In case you didn't know I returned this last weekend from a trip to visit family in St. Louis. So if you responded to one of my post and I didn't get back to you I am so very sorry. I am not the most intelligent person when it comes to technology ...really ask Tiffany who designed my blog that poor sweet girl had to walk me through even the simplest of things. So answering via my phone proved to be challenging to say the least!
I think the hardest part about returning from a trip, especially one at the end of a holiday vacation, is getting back into the swing of things. I mean after I have cleaned what seems to be enough clothes for a small country, unpacked a million bags, and cleaning the house because I was so bad and didn't clean before I left. Actually leaving for a trip was something I was not sure was going to happen for a while...let me explain.
So on Christmas we got 4 inches of snow. Yes, it snowed in Texas!! It was beautiful and our children loved it. The problem was that we don't do snow and ice in Texas. The roads are treated with sand and you say a prayer to God before you go out and drive. So the day after Christmas I had a present to return. After getting a text from my sweetheart that the roads were not bad I ventured out. What I didn't take in mind was that the parking lots would not be in the same condition as the roads. So as I was trying to leave the Fry's parking lot which was a sheet of ice a car driving way to fast lost control and was sliding right for the front of my car. So I turned to avoid her and drove over a curb. No big deal right....except that this cracked my wheel and broke my lower tie bar. OM Gosh....that was a repair bill. THEN after having the car in shop for two days I drove it home (much poorer then before) and started to load the roof top carrier. EXCEPT...I heard a hissing noise. On the way home I ran over a nail and now had a hole in a tire. So after taking the car to get THAT fixed we decided it must be God's way of saying that we needed to wait for the next day to drive.
So the next morning we left at 3:00 am and did our 10 hour drive. God kept us safe and we arrived with no van problems. It was a great trip and we were able to visit with family. The kids spent time with their only set of Great Grandparents who are in their mid 90's. We stayed at my mother's house and raised the noise level tremendously. We spent time with Tim's little sister and her family, my brother and his family, my birth mother and sisters and my kids got to spend time with their cousins. It was the first time they got to meet them and I was thrilled on how great they all got along. I think when we finally left my mother house she sat on the couch and listened to the quite...well only for a moment because she never sits still!! A 10 hour car ride home and we arrived safe yet very tired.
Again, I am so sorry if I did not respond to a comment you left. I promise you I was not being a big meanie pants. ALSO....if you don't check your email much I have sent the winner of the gift card 2 emails. I have not heard back yet so if I don't hear back soon I will have to pick a new winner...and I feel so bad doing that!! SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL!! :)
I hope everyone is having a great 2013!!

ReplyDeleteGood lord, girly! I would have stayed home, locked myself in my bedroom and pulled the covers over my head. You are one brave soul! Welcome home. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! I would have definitely taken those events as a sign to stay off the roads as well. I'm glad to hear you had a safe and wonderful trip though.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! I am glad your trip was at least safe, even though it was a little delayed and it sounds like you had lots of fun!
